Relationship Reflection

Relationship Reflection

This is a photo of my boyfriend Jeff and I. The relationship we have is very important in my life. We started dating just about two years ago and through this relationship I have learned a great deal about myself as a girlfriend and as an individual. I have learned what it means to have a supportive and loving partner in your life and am so thankful to have found that. Since being in this relationship, I have learned the importance of being honest and open with someone and allowing someone to come into you life and change it in so many positive ways. I moved back home for the summer to work and being away from my boyfriend is hard and each day has their ups and downs. At the end of the day I know that being away from each other for the summer will only make our relationship stronger in the end.

This is a photo of my three sisters and myself. From left to right; Mary Catherine(16 yrs old), myself, Erin (30years old) and Emily (17 years old). My sisters and I have a very special relationships with each other. I have a different relationship with each sister. I am closer with my oldest sister because we have been through a lot together in our lives. My oldest sister is like a second mother to me and don't know where I would be today without her love and support. I am finally starting to build relationships with my two younger sisters because they are older now and are more open to talking with me and letting me know what is going on in their life. The three of us work together at a summer camp and I feel that this is good bonding time and helping our relationship grow. My two younger sisters are from my mothers second marriage, but I would never look at them in any other way as my full sisters. I feel a bond between siblings is very important and positive in someones life and I am blessed to have 3 sisters to create such special and long lasting relationships with.

This is a photo of my mother JoAnne and myself. This photo was taken at a Relay for Life walk. This photo in particular is very important to me because my mom is a Breast Cancer survivor. My mom and I have a positive relationship and she has taught me so much in life. The reason I feel we have such a positive relationship is because our communication is ongoing and we are able to tell each other what is wrong or what is going on in our life. My mother is such a strong and powerful woman and I hope to be like her when I am a mother. She has taught me to be myself no matter what others think, be open with others, communication is key, and to always be truthful with myself. As I got older, the relationship between my mother and I has definitely grown and become even more important in my life. When I moved out of my house I realized how much I missed my mom and how important it was talk with her daily and remind her that I love her.

This is photo of my Pop-Pop( mom's father) and myself from his 80th surprise birthday party. The relationship I have with my pop-pop is very positive and loving. My pop-pop and nana had 11 children, 7 girls and 4 boys. They also have 25 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Through the relationship I have with my pop I have learned what it means to come from a family who will be there for you no matter what and will always love you at the end of the day. My pop makes sure he has time to spend with all his grandchildren and has a special relationship with each and every one of us. My family is very close with each other and we make it a point to get together whenever we can and talk daily and we have my pop-pop to thank for that.

  1. Brigette, I enjoyed reading your post. Your family relationships have so many different levels and dimensions but through it all the constant theme is one of love and respect.

  2. I felt as if I was a part of your family just by reading what you had posted. It is so refreshing to see and read how some people feel about their family especially when it is done in a positive light. Keep up the good work.

  3. My husband is from a family of 11 children They are all very close. Waht amazes me is the bonds seem to strengthen as time passes, although most have their own families and grandchildren.
